The situation on the Kyrgyz-Tajik border remains strained, Mirzamir Sydykov, head of the Information and Analytical Department of the Border Service of the State Security Committee of the Kyrgyz Republic, said at a press conference on May 1.

"Border guards are guarding the border in an enhanced mode. The situation on the territory is being monitored and is under full control, " he said.
Answering questions, Sydykov said that different information is received.

"I ask the media to distribute only verified information. In some cases, provocative information is published, which can negatively affect the negotiations, " he said.

According to him, the border is being guarded in an enhanced mode. "Currently, a meeting of government commissions on the demarcation and delimitation of the border line is being held. The two presidents also held talks, and instructions were given to resolve the issue peacefully, " he added.
